When you're charged with a crime in Oklahoma, you only have two ways to formally respond in writing to the charges. You can file a demurrer, which argues that the charges themselves have a legal problem, such as not describing an actual crime. Or you can file a plea, which is your answer to the charges, like guilty or not guilty.

This rule keeps things simple by limiting your options to just these two responses. You don't need to worry about other types of written filings to answer the charges against you. Everything else in the court process happens through these two paths, either challenging the charges directly through a demurrer or responding to them through a plea.
