§ 54 Prosecution on breach.

If a defendant breaks the terms of their bail or bond agreement, the county attorney has to show proof of this to the district court. Once the court sees this proof, it will order the bond to be enforced through legal action.

After the court gives this order, the county attorney must then file a lawsuit against the defendant. This lawsuit is filed on behalf of the state, not the county attorney personally. The goal is to collect the money or enforce the terms that were promised when the bond was set up.
