§ 637 Denial of challenge - Trial of fact questions.

When someone challenges something in a criminal case (like a juror), the judge can deny that challenge out loud, without needing a written order. But the court clerk still has to write down the denial in the court's official records. This keeps a clear paper trail of what happened during the trial, even when the judge's decision was spoken rather than written.

After denying the challenge, the court then moves forward to actually decide the factual questions involved. This means the judge doesn't just dismiss the challenge and move on. The court still has to look at the facts and make a real decision about them.

For someone involved in a case, this rule means two things. First, a judge can rule quickly on a challenge without a lot of paperwork. Second, that ruling still gets recorded, so there's an official account of what took place. This protects everyone's ability to look back later and see exactly what the court decided and why.
