When someone challenges a juror in a criminal case, the judge has to make a decision on it right then. The judge will either agree with the challenge and remove the juror, or reject the challenge and keep the juror on the panel.

Whatever the judge decides, it gets written down in the official court record. This creates a clear record of what happened and why certain jurors were removed or kept, which can matter later if someone appeals the case.
