Sec 3.5 Number of Licensed Legal Interns

An attorney can only supervise up to three licensed legal interns at the same time. This limit helps make sure each intern gets enough attention and guidance while they're learning to practice law.

There's an exception to this rule, though. If the attorney works for a legal aid program, public defender's office, district attorney's office, municipal attorney's office, attorney general's office, or an approved law school internship program (including law school clinics), the three-intern limit doesn't apply. These organizations often have different needs and resources for training interns, so they're allowed more flexibility.
