When a limited liability company (LLC) owns property, that property belongs to the company itself, not to the individual members or managers who run it. Because of this, a member's spouse has no homestead rights or other marital claims to that specific property, even if the member has an ownership stake in the LLC.
This matters when someone is checking the title to a piece of property. If an LLC owns the land or building, you don't need to worry about getting a spouse's signature or checking for marital rights, because those rights simply don't apply. The member's interest is in the company as a whole, not in any particular piece of property the company owns.
