sec 6.5 Foreign Executions and Acknowledgments

This rule deals with legal documents, like deeds, that are signed and notarized outside of Oklahoma. If someone signs and acknowledges a document in another state, a U.S. territory, Washington D.C., or another country, that document can still be valid in Oklahoma. The key requirement is that the signing and notarizing must follow the legal rules of the place where it happened, or follow federal law.

In practical terms, this means people don't have to travel to Oklahoma or find an Oklahoma notary to properly execute a real estate document. As long as they follow the correct legal process for wherever they are, the document will be treated the same as if it had been signed and notarized right here in Oklahoma, at least when it comes to how it was executed and acknowledged. This makes it easier for people who live out of state, or even out of the country, to handle property transactions involving Oklahoma land.
