§ 131.385 When change of venue is complete

Once a judge signs an order moving a case to a different court, the change happens right away. The case then continues in the new court just like it would have if it had started there in the first place.

This means nothing has to be redone or refiled. All the steps already taken in the case still count, and the new court picks up where the old one left off. Everyone involved, including the defendant, prosecutors, and court staff, follows normal procedures from that point forward, just in a new location.
