§ 131.895 Procedure for payment

If a county offers a reward for information under this law, someone has to actually apply and get approved before they get paid. This rule explains how that approval process works.

First, the county court or the county's governing body looks at the claim from the person asking for the reward money. They decide whether that person actually qualifies for the reward based on the rules in ORS 131.885 to 131.895.

If they approve the claim, they figure out how much money the person should get. If more than one person qualifies for the same reward, the money gets split up fairly between them. The county then tells the county clerk how much each approved person should receive.

Once the county clerk has that information, the clerk writes an official payment order to the county treasurer. This order tells the treasurer to pay out the approved amount to the person who earned the reward.
