§ 135.773 District attorney to furnish certain documents

When a person in custody is involved in a court case covered by these rules, the district attorney has to get the paperwork showing why that person is locked up. This means getting a certified copy of the judgment, sentence, or commitment order from the original case, and giving it to the court handling the current matter.

This paperwork proves the legal basis for the person's imprisonment. The district attorney is responsible for tracking down these records and making sure the court has them, rather than leaving it to the person in custody or someone else to provide this proof.
