§ 136.540 [Amended by 1957 c.567 §1; renumbered 136.425]

This rule number no longer contains active text. It was changed back in 1957 and then given a new number, 136.425. If you're looking for the actual rule content, you'll need to check ORS 136.425 instead, since that's where the current version of this law lives.

Renumbering like this happens sometimes when lawmakers reorganize the legal code. The rule itself didn't necessarily disappear or stop applying, it just got moved and relabeled for organizational purposes. So if you saw a reference to 136.540 in an older document or case, know that it's pointing to what is now called 136.425.

If you need to know what the rule actually says and how it affects a criminal case, look up ORS 136.425 directly for the current, applicable text.
