§ 137.159 Level V obligations in circuit court judgments

If a judgment in a criminal case includes a "Level V" obligation, this means the person has to pay back reward money. This happens under a specific law, ORS 131.897, which deals with rewards offered to help solve crimes. When someone offers a reward and it leads to an arrest or conviction, the court can order the defendant to repay that reward amount as part of their sentence.

This type of payment is separate from other fines, fees, or restitution a person might owe. It gets its own category, Level V, so courts can track it and handle it correctly during and after the case. If you see this on a judgment, it means part of what you owe is going toward paying back reward money that was given out in connection with your case.
