§ 144.460 Contracts for quartering of enrollees

The Department of Corrections can set up agreements with local governments, the federal government, or approved private agencies to house people who are part of work release programs. This means someone in work release does not have to stay in a regular prison. Instead, they can be housed in a local facility that fits the program's needs.

These contracts give the department flexibility to place people in locations that make sense, especially if those locations are closer to jobs, family, or other resources tied to the work release program. The facility used must be approved and considered suitable by the department before anyone is housed there.
