Rule 78 Order or Judgment for Specific Acts

If a court judgment tells someone to do something specific, like sign over property, transfer ownership, or release a claim, and that person doesn't do it within the time the court set, the law treats it as if the act was already done. This means the other side doesn't have to wait around for the person to cooperate. The judgment itself has the same legal effect as if the person had actually completed the task.

If someone still refuses to follow the court's order, the judge has another option. The judge can hold that person in contempt of court, using the process laid out in Oregon law (ORS 33.015 to 33.155). Contempt proceedings can lead to penalties, giving the court a way to enforce its orders even when a person won't cooperate voluntarily.
