Rule 6.180 Weapons and Hazardous Substances in the Court Facilities

If you're going to a courthouse in Oregon, you can't bring weapons or dangerous items with you. This includes guns, knives, or any device that could hurt or kill someone. It also covers hazardous substances that could cause harm.

The only exception is for law enforcement officers, who are allowed to carry these items as part of their job. Everyone else must leave weapons and dangerous items behind unless a judge specifically gives permission for an exception.

This rule exists to keep everyone safe inside court buildings, including judges, staff, attorneys, and the public. If you're not sure whether something you're carrying counts as a weapon or hazardous substance under this rule, it's best to leave it at home or in your car before entering the courthouse.
