Rule 9.080 Oral Objections in Protective Proceedings and Notice of Free and Low-cost Legal Services

If you're involved in a protective proceeding in Oregon (these are court cases about guardianships or conservatorships), you have the right to speak up in court if you disagree with a request someone has filed. This rule requires each county court to set up a clear process for how you can make these spoken objections. Each court must write its own local rule explaining exactly how this works in their area.

The rule also requires courts to post information about free or low-cost legal help near wherever you go to make these objections. This means if you can't afford a lawyer, the court has to make sure you can find out about legal services that might help you, right at the location where you'd be speaking up about your case. This gives people a chance to get legal advice or representation before or while they object to something happening in their case.
