Rule 3125 Perishable property; sale, preservation, or other disposition

If police or court officers seize property that can spoil or go bad, like food, plants, or live animals, the court can decide what to do with it quickly.

The court has the power to order the property to be sold, preserved, or handled in whatever way makes the most sense given the situation. This flexibility exists because waiting too long could cause the property to lose its value or become worthless.
