Rule 3164 Sheriff’s return

When a sheriff finishes carrying out a court order to collect money or property, or stops trying, they must file a report with the court. This report is called a "return."

The return tells the court what happened. For example, it might show that the sheriff collected the money, sold property, or was unable to complete the job for some reason.
