Rule 23 Local Rule-Making

Every county in South Carolina has to follow the same set of rules for alternative dispute resolution (ADR). Counties can't create their own local versions of these rules unless the South Carolina Supreme Court specifically approves it. This keeps the process consistent no matter where a case is filed in the state.

If you have a motion or request related to ADR, it typically needs to go to the Chief Judge for Administrative Purposes, unless another rule says otherwise. This person handles administrative decisions about how ADR cases move forward in that area.

In short, this rule makes sure ADR works the same way statewide and tells people where to bring their requests or questions about the process.
