Rule 38 Title and Citation

This rule just gives an official name to the whole set of rules used in criminal cases in South Carolina. They are called the South Carolina Rules of Criminal Procedure.

It also explains how to refer to them when writing or talking about a specific rule. Instead of spelling out the full name every time, you can use the short form SCRCrimP along with the rule number. For example, you would write "Rule 5, SCRCrimP" instead of writing out the entire title.

This matters mostly for lawyers, judges, and court documents. It keeps things consistent so everyone knows exactly which set of rules is being talked about when a rule number is mentioned.
