Rule 271 Charge to the Jury

Before the jury makes its decision, the judge must give the jurors a written set of instructions. The judge reads these instructions out loud in the courtroom.

Both sides in the case can agree to skip this step, but if neither side gives up that right, the judge is required to do it.
