Rule 3 Construction of Rules

When you read these court rules, don't get hung up on the exact wording used for time, gender, or number. A rule written in the past tense also applies to present and future situations. A rule that says "he" also means "she" or "they," and a rule that mentions one person or thing also covers multiple people or things.

This basically means the rules are written to be flexible. Courts won't throw out your case or argument just because a rule uses different wording than your specific situation. The rules are meant to cover everyone and every scenario, even if the exact words don't perfectly match your case.
