Rule 360 Written Opinions in Business Court Actions

In Texas Business Court cases, judges must write out their reasoning in certain situations. If a judge makes a final ruling that ends the case or a major part of it, any party can ask for a written explanation of why the judge decided the way they did. The judge must also write an opinion on their own when a legal issue matters to how courts across the state will handle similar cases in the future.

Outside of those required situations, a judge can choose to write a written opinion for any other order or decision in the case, even if no one asks for it.
