Rule 663 Execution and Return of Writ

When a sheriff or constable gets a garnishment writ, they must act right away. They deliver a copy of the writ to the garnishee, which is the person or business that may be holding money or property belonging to the defendant.

After delivering the writ, the sheriff or constable must file a return, which is a document showing the writ was delivered. This is done the same way they would report back on other court papers they serve.
