Rule 689 Service and Return

When a court issues an injunction, a court officer (like a sheriff or constable) receives the official paperwork and must write down the date they got it. They then have to deliver a copy of the injunction to the person it is directed against right away.

After delivering the injunction, the officer must fill out a return form and file it with the court. This return is the official record showing that the injunction was properly delivered. The return must follow the requirements set out in Rule 107, which covers the standard rules for proving that legal papers were served.
