Art. 7.05 OATH OF SURETY; BOND FILED

When someone puts up bail for a defendant by acting as a surety, they have to swear an oath about how much their property is worth. This makes sure the surety actually has enough money or assets to back up the bond they're signing. The officer handling the bond is the one who requires this oath before accepting the surety.

Once the bond and the oath are complete, the officer must promptly turn them in to the county clerk's office where the bond was taken. This creates an official record of the bond and the surety's sworn statement about their finances. Filing it right away keeps the process honest and makes sure the court has proof of who's financially responsible for the defendant showing up.
