Art. 7C.006 INAPPLICABILITY

This rule explains what this chapter does NOT cover. It does not apply to protective orders that come from the Family Code or from other parts of the Code of Criminal Procedure. It also does not apply to protective orders from another state, as long as Texas law recognizes or enforces that out-of-state order.

In simple terms, this rule is a "carve out." It tells you that if a protective order was created under those other laws, you need to look at the rules in those specific laws instead of this chapter. This chapter has its own separate rules for a different type of situation, and it steps aside when one of these other protective orders is involved.
