Rule 55 Records of the Clerk

The clerk's office has to keep written records of everything that happens in a criminal case. These records follow a specific format set by the Presiding Judge or Chief Justice, so all courts handle their paperwork the same way.

Whenever a judge issues an order or makes a decision in a case, the clerk must write down the exact date it was officially entered into the record. This date matters because it can affect deadlines, like how much time someone has to file an appeal or respond to a ruling.

This rule went into effect on December 1, 2017.
