Rule 106 Remainder of or Related Writings or Recorded Statements

If one side in a case shows the court part of a document or recording, the other side can demand that the rest of it be shown right then and there. This prevents someone from cherry-picking only the parts that help their case while hiding the rest.

For example, if someone reads only one paragraph from a letter, the other side can say "show the whole letter now." The same goes for recordings, transcripts, or any other written materials. The key is that the additional material must be related and fair to consider alongside what was already shown.
