Rule 702 Testimony by Experts

Sometimes a case involves topics that are hard for regular people to understand, like medicine, engineering, or finance. In those situations, a court can allow a special witness called an expert to explain things to the judge or jury.

To qualify as an expert, a person needs to have real knowledge about the topic, whether that comes from years of experience, formal education, or specific training. The expert can then share their professional opinion, not just state facts like other witnesses do.
