Rule 15.13 System or participant errors

Sometimes technology fails when you're trying to file or send a legal document through the electronic filing system. This could happen because of a transmission error you didn't know about, a processing failure on the system's end, the clerk rejecting the document, or some other technical glitch.

If this happens to you, the court can still treat your document as if it was filed on time. You'll need to show the court proof that you tried to file or serve the document on the original date, and that a technical problem got in the way. If the court accepts your proof, it will issue an order that officially dates your filing back to when you first tried to submit it.

This rule protects you from missing deadlines because of computer or system problems that are not your fault. It means a filing error caused by the technology itself won't automatically hurt your case, as long as you can show what went wrong and when you first tried to file.
