Rule 25.13 Immunity

When someone serves as a mediator in a court case, they get the same legal protection as a circuit judge would. This means the mediator cannot be sued for things they say or do while running the mediation, as long as they are acting in that role.

This protection exists so mediators can do their job without worrying about being blamed or sued by people who are unhappy with how the mediation went. It lets them make decisions, ask tough questions, and guide the process freely. People involved in a mediation should know that the mediator is shielded from legal claims related to their work on the case, just like a judge would be.
