Rule 26.12 Scope; Conflicts

These rules take priority over other court rules or state laws if there's ever a conflict between them. If there's no conflict, then all the rules that normally apply to a case still apply as usual.

In simple terms, this means courts must follow this specific set of rules first when there's a disagreement about which rule to use. Think of it as a tiebreaker. If another law or rule says one thing, but this rule says something different, the court goes with this rule.

If there's no clash between the rules, though, nothing changes. All the regular rules that would normally apply to a case still apply, right alongside this one. This rule only matters when there's an actual conflict to resolve.
