About This Court

The United States Bankruptcy Court for the District of Wyoming is a unit of the United States District Court for the District of Wyoming and operates within the Tenth Circuit. It has jurisdiction over all bankruptcy cases filed under Title 11 of the United States Code within the state of Wyoming, including Chapter 7, Chapter 11, Chapter 12, and Chapter 13 proceedings.

Wyoming is a single-district state, and the bankruptcy court serves the entire geographic area of the state from its courthouse in Cheyenne. The court handles cases arising from Wyoming's economy, which includes energy production, agriculture, and ranching industries.

Given Wyoming's relatively small population, the court maintains a modest but steady docket. The presiding bankruptcy judge also may hear matters in other locations within the state as needed.
