Rule 7022 Interpleader

When two or more people claim rights to the same money or property in a bankruptcy case, a process called interpleader allows the person holding that money or property to bring all the claimants into one court proceeding. This way, a court can sort out who actually gets it, and the person holding the funds does not have to worry about paying the wrong party or getting sued multiple times over the same money.

This rule works alongside Rule 7020, which covers joining multiple parties in a lawsuit. The two rules work together, giving courts more ways to handle situations where several people are fighting over the same assets in a bankruptcy case.
