§ 24-11-25 [Rule Absolute Granted Establishing Duplicate Paper]

If someone has lost or destroyed an important court paper, they can ask the court to officially recognize a copy of it as a replacement. Once the proper legal notice has been given to all parties involved, the court will approve the replacement copy unless someone gives a good reason why it should not be approved.

The person challenging the replacement has the burden of showing the court why the copy should not be accepted. If no one objects with a valid reason, the court must approve the duplicate paper.
