§ 24-6-621 [Impeachment by Disproving Witness Facts]

If someone testifies in court, the other side can challenge their credibility by showing that what they said is not true. This is done by bringing in other evidence or witnesses that contradict the facts they stated.

This is one of the ways a lawyer can attack a witness's testimony. The goal is to show the jury or judge that the witness got the facts wrong, which may cause them to trust that witness less.
