Rule 45 Satisfaction of Fi. Fa.

When someone owes money from a court judgment, the court can issue a document called a fi. fa. (short for "fieri facias") that allows the winning party to collect that debt, sometimes by selling the losing party's property at a public auction.

If the person who owes the money pays what they owe before that public sale happens, the judge or court clerk will mark the fi. fa. document as "satisfied." This marking shows that the debt has been paid and that no property needs to be sold.
