Rule 36.9 Identification

When a case is filed in Superior Court, it gets a unique ID number made up of four parts. These parts are put together in a specific order: the year the case was filed, the type of case (such as civil or criminal), a numbered sequence, and the assigned judge.

For example, a case filed in 2024 might have an ID that shows the year, the case type, its number in line, and which judge is handling it. This system works the same way for all kinds of cases, whether civil, criminal, or adoption.
