Art. 3830 Judgment

If a court is deciding a case under this rule, the judge has two main options for what happens to the person involved. The judge can order that the person be released completely, or the judge can order that the person be placed in the care of someone who is fit to look after them.

This gives the court flexibility. If the situation calls for full release with no conditions, the judge can do that. But if the person still needs supervision or care, the judge can instead hand custody over to a responsible person or caregiver, rather than releasing them outright. The choice depends on what the judge thinks is best for that specific situation.
