V § 2 Oppositions to Motions

If someone files a motion in your case, you have 7 days to file a written opposition if you disagree with it. This deadline is short, so you need to act quickly once you receive the motion.

There's an exception that makes things move even faster. If the motion asks for priority handling or requests a stay order (which pauses court proceedings), you must file your opposition right away, as soon as you get a copy of the motion. You don't get the full 7 days in that situation.

When you file your opposition, you need to submit both an original copy and a duplicate copy to the court. You also have to include a certificate proving that you sent a copy to the opposing side. This copy must be sent the same way you filed it with the court, whether that's by mail, hand delivery, or another method. This certificate is basically your proof that the other side knows about your opposition and got a fair chance to see it.
