VIII § 1 Location and Sessions

The Louisiana Supreme Court normally meets in New Orleans, where it is based. But the Court is not required to stay there. It can hold sessions in other locations if it decides that makes sense.

The Court itself decides when it will meet, including the specific dates and times for its sessions. This scheduling information does not stay hidden. The Clerk of Court puts together a calendar that lists these hearings, following the process laid out in Rule VI, so the dates and times are available to those who need them.

In short, this rule gives the Court flexibility on where it meets while making sure the public and people involved in cases can find out when hearings are happening through the official court calendar.
