VII § 2 Submission Without Oral Arguments

If everyone involved in a case agrees, they can ask the Louisiana Supreme Court to skip oral arguments and decide the case based on the written filings alone. This applies even if the case was already scheduled for oral arguments.

To do this, all parties need to file a joint motion asking the court to submit the case without arguments. Once that motion is filed, the case can move forward for a decision at any point, without anyone having to appear before the court to argue their side in person.

This gives parties a way to save time and avoid the cost and effort of preparing for oral arguments, as long as everyone agrees it's the right move.
