VIII § 5 Visual and Demonstrative Aids

If you want to use pictures, charts, or other visual aids during oral arguments before the Louisiana Supreme Court, there are rules you need to follow. First, the information shown in the visual aid must already be part of the official case record. You can't introduce new evidence or information through a visual aid during arguments.

You also need to give copies of your visual aid to the other side's lawyer and to the justices before you use it during arguments. This gives everyone a chance to see what you're presenting ahead of time, so there are no surprises in the courtroom.

Finally, you need to tell the Court in advance that you plan to use a visual aid. You must file this notice at least two business days before your scheduled argument date. If you miss this deadline or skip this step, you may not be allowed to use your visual aid when it's your turn to speak.
