XII § 7 Oral Arguments

The Louisiana Supreme Court can allow oral arguments if someone asks for them, or the Court can decide on its own to order them. If oral arguments do happen, Rule VIII sets the rules for scheduling them and deciding what order attorneys will speak in.

If an out-of-state attorney wants to argue before the Court, they need special permission first. This is called "pro hac vice" status, which lets an attorney who isn't licensed in Louisiana handle a specific case.
