XXVIII § 2 Transcript, Record

When someone is sentenced to death, the court must prepare a complete word for word transcript of the sentencing hearing. This transcript gets sent to the Supreme Court along with any other case records needed for the appeal.

This has to happen within the same deadlines and follow the same format rules that normally apply to sending records for a regular appeal. The goal is simple: the higher court reviewing a death sentence needs to see exactly what happened at the sentencing hearing, in full detail, so it can properly check the case.
