This rule explains what counts as a "motion" and what it means to "serve" one on the other side in a court case. A motion is any request asking the judge to make a ruling or order, including the specific types of requests listed under section 6-1112(b). Basically, if you're asking the court to do something, that request is treated as a motion under these rules.

The rule also says that serving a motion means delivering it to the other party the way the law describes in sections 6-1105(b) and 6-1106(c). This usually involves formally sending copies of court papers to everyone involved in the case.

Finally, the rule sets a timing requirement. If you file a motion, you must serve it on the other side at least 10 days before the hearing date. This gives everyone enough time to review the request and prepare a response before going in front of the judge.
