Rule 28-101 Scope and title.

These rules explain how judges get evaluated when they are up for a retention election. A retention election is when voters decide whether to keep a judge in office, rather than having the judge run against another candidate. The rules cover how the evaluation process works and how the results get shared with the public before people vote.

The rules also cover interim evaluations. These are check-ins on a judge's performance that happen at other times, not just before an election. Together, these rules make up what's called the Rules Governing the Judicial Performance Evaluation Commission, and they set the ground rules for how judges are reviewed and how that information reaches voters.
