§ 228 Cooperation by banks and other fiduciary institutions

If you're involved in a family court case about child support or paternity, banks and similar financial institutions have to share information with the court when asked. This means if you have money in a bank account, the bank can be required to tell the court details about that account.

This rule applies to both the person asking for support (the petitioner) and the person being asked to pay (the respondent). The court can request full information about any funds either person has deposited at a bank or similar institution.

Banks don't have a choice in this situation. The law requires them to cooperate and provide the information the court asks for. This helps the court get an accurate picture of someone's financial situation when deciding issues like child support payments.
