§ 581-701 Remedial

This section explains how the law should be read and applied. It tells judges that this part of the law exists to help people, not to create obstacles. Because of this, courts should interpret it in a flexible, common sense way rather than a strict or narrow one.

The main goal is to protect the best interests of the child. Any time there's a question about how to apply this law, judges should lean toward the interpretation that best serves the child's wellbeing. This gives courts more freedom to make decisions that actually help children and families, instead of getting stuck on technical rules that might get in the way of a fair outcome.
